Groove at the Hammer Museum

Groove at the Hammer Museum

On Friday, April 12th, all current members of the California and Northwest Chapters of the Patrons are cordially invited to a 11:30am chef-selected lunch at Restaurant Lulu in west Los Angeles, followed by a curator-led visit to the Hammer Museum's special exhibit Groove: Artists and Intaglio Prints, 1500 to Now.

This exhibition surveys over five hundred years of intaglio prints drawn from the extensive collections of the UCLA Grunwald Center for the Graphic Arts at the Hammer Museum. Groove includes more than eighty prints, organized chronologically, with important examples of Renaissance engraving by Albrecht Dürer and Giorgio Ghisi; major etchings of the Dutch baroque period by Rembrandt van Rijn; as well as more contemporary nineteenth and twentieth century examples.

Restaurant Lulu

Lulu is the Hammer’s acclaimed restaurant led by chef, writer, and cookbook author David Tanis and conceived with legendary chef and food activist Alice Waters.

For this event, Lulu will offer a chef-selected three-course market menu of fresh, farm-to-table fare. Menus change daily, and rely on the freshest, most seasonal ingredients available.

Seasonal local produce anchors Lulu's cooking; the market dictates the menu. You'll find Tanis and other Lulu chefs at the farmers' markets most mornings. Lulu sources its ingredients from farms committed to sustainable, organic, regenerative agriculture. These methods ameliorate the land for future use and help sink carbon. Lulu is proud to support local farmers.
